I'm going to be direct here: most men don't understand hints because hints aren't clear communication.
I know that's frustrating to hear if you've been hinting. You feel like you're being considerate — giving the message without being demanding. But from a man's side, a hint is a riddle without enough clues. And most men aren't playing the same game of indirect communication that you are.
I lived this for years. My wife would say something like, "It would be nice if someone cleaned the kitchen." And she meant me. I heard: a general observation about the kitchen. It wasn't that I didn't care. It's that the words she used and the meaning she intended were two different things, and I was taking her at her word.
This isn't a defect on either side. It's a translation problem. But the solution isn't more hints. The solution is directness.
If you want a man to understand what you need, say it plainly. Not harshly. Not coldly. But plainly. "I need you to clean the kitchen tonight." "I need to talk and I need you to just listen, not fix anything." "I need to feel like you see me."
Most men will respond to that. Not because they're simple, but because they're wired for direct signals. Give them one.
